Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future The Socialist councilors at the Municipal Council will ask explanations
from the Mayor Lulzim Basha, as regards the purchase of the Lanabregas
Hydropower Plant from the Aqueduct, which depends from the Municipality.
“As opposition councilors, we are deeply concerned when we face a fait accompli, when more than 15 million EUR are treated as private property. In fact, we have to do with a purchase act between two subjects that are public assets: the Tirana Aqueduct, an institution of the Municipality, and the Lanabregas Hydropower plant. On what legal procedures was completed the purchase agreement of this hydropower plant? How was the winning company elected? Which are the loan interests and the total value of this transaction? Has there been any selecting procedure for a better and cheaper variant? For all these questions and other that are related with the water price increase in Tirana, we demand a special session where Mr. Basha has to respond to the Tirana citizens”, declared Aldrin Dalipi, Chairman of the Socialist Councilors.
A few days ago there was an agreement for the purchase of the Lanabregas hydropower plant from the Tirana Aqueduct, with a price of 15 million EUR. The Socialists don’t see this as transparent, since the Aqueduct has declared losses, and since the Lanabregas hydropower plant should undergo an open competition.
