The Socialist Party gathered the interest groups for presenting its
governing program for the health system, in order to collect ideas for
the platform “for an Albanian rebirth”.

In this meeting were present organizations, different associations, doctors and citizens who have interest. The SP leader, Edi Rama, underlined the need of every citizen to have the right of a correct health service.

Rama considered the current health system a Party organization, led by the Health Ministry, adding that it should be equal for everyone, not only people with insurances, but also those that live outside the insurance scheme.

“The health system is ruined. The people do not receive always what they pay. The Health Ministry is a party organization. The Health system should be equal for everyone, even for people that do not have insurances. Many Albanians are unemployed and not insured”, Rama declared.

He emphasized that the real professionals have been left in conditions that offend their dignity in the health system. Rama then unfolded the opposition’s challenges for this sector, which will be implemented with its coming to power.

“Our challenge is to return to the citizens the trust that they have lost in the health industry. 15th of the country’s territory has no health service. We will expand the qualified pharmaceutical service in our country. There will be a consensual reform that will make only incompetent people go away. The distinguished professor, regardless of political convictions, will be our partners for the system reform”, Rama declared.

The Socialist leader underlined that 1 million Albanians live outside the health insurance system and he promised that VAT on medicine will be removed.

Health ministry: Rama knows nothing about Health
