Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future
Even during the meeting of the Fier District Council, when the
councilors voted the new Head of the Council, there were attempts for
the same vote leaking as in Berat, but this didn’t change the final
result. The council of this city has 57 left centered councilors and 39
the right centered.
But four Socialist votes passed to their rivals, and the candidate of the Socialist Party, Vangjel Ndreka, who was declared head of the district, took 57 votes. The DP candidate received only 42. The building where the Council meeting was held was guarded by numerous police agents.
This meeting was also followed by Parliament Members such as Gramoz Ruci, Sokol Olldashi, Mesila Doda and Armando Subashi.
Earlier the day, the DP and SMI coalition representatives took the control of the Municipal Council with the votes of one Socialist member, who was rewarded with a job, and one Social-Democrat councilor. The vote traffic for the Municipal Councils was also warned in other municipalities of the country.
Berat, District Council “goes” right
The Municipal Council of Berat will be led by the Alliance for the Citizen. Petrit Sina was chosen as Chairman of the District Council, after four Socialist Councilors passed with the Democratic Party and the Socialist Movement for Integration.
After the voting of 51 members of the Council, Sina took 27 votes while the Socialist candidate of Alliance for the Future, Pelivan Shatri, took 24 votes.
In this meeting was present the SMI leader, Ilir Meta, and Democratic MPs of the district, Genc Pollo, Lefter Maliqi, Mehmet Xheka and Nasip Naço.
This is the second Municipal Council that the Socialist Party has lost recently, after that of Fier, where only yesterday the votes of two left centered councilors went to the Democratic Party and their allies.
