Socialist MPs investigation

27/01/2012 00:00

Three Socialist MPs, Tom Doshi, Taulant Balla and Besnik Baraj preferred
not to be physically present at the Council of Immunities, where,
according to the Parliament Regulation, they are to be heard after the
Prosecutor’s request for removing their mandates.

The opposition MPs decided to be presented by a short letter, the content of which is the same counts for the three of them.

Through this letter, Tom Doshi, Taulant Balla and Besnik Bare say that they accept the removal of their Parliamentary immunity and that they are ready to be submitted to the Prosecution’s investigations.

In this letter, the opposition MPs say that their stance will be made public in the plenary session, when the request will be reviewed. This was enough for the Council of Immunities to approve in less then four minutes and without debates the procedure for removing their immunities in another plenary session.

According to the regulation, the plenary session will have a secret voting, which will be held after the MPs will have given their explanations and after they will have answered to their colleagues’ questions regarding the General Prosecution’s request for removing their immunity.

The Prosecutor Ina Rama asked for further investigations that should clarify the behavior of these MPs for the penal act of organizing and participating in illegal demonstrations.
