An electoral poster of the ruling Socialist Party was damaged at the entrance to Rrëshen in northeastern Albania.

The poster with images of opposition figures such as former prime minister Sali Berisha, his ally Ilir Meta, the latter’s wife Monika Kryemadhi, the commanding chairman of the Democratic Party Enkelej Alibeaj and Belind Kelliçi, the candidate of the opposition coalition “Bashkë Fitomje” for Tirana, it was set on fire by as yet unidentified persons.

The police have no suspects for this act, while the poster with the inscription “Non grata; They don’t deserve any more chance”, is the only one in the area that has been damaged.

On the highway that leads to Rrëshen, there are other billboards with electoral posters sponsored by the majority, but they have not been affected.

For the event that takes place 9 days before the local elections of May 14, no political entity has reacted.

Events such as when election posters are torn or destroyed have often been mentioned in the reports of elections foreign observers in the past, where they have been characterized as election incidents or acts that caused tensions during the campaign.
