Socialist convention

The Socialist Convention in which the opposition introduced a detailed
program for the June 23rd election, the Socialist leader, Edi Rama,
invited the Albanians to vote for not living anymore in a country full
of lies.

Rama promised to lower taxes for 90% of the Albanians, to create new jobs and reduce crime.

“Our program is new and modern. The Democratic Party program aims to divide the Albanians”, Rama declared.

According to him, Albania is not going on the right track and its image is shattered. For this reason, according to Rama, the changes in June 23rd are indispensable.

Ayala: Albania needs SP leadership

Conference

Our vision is different. The path that we will follow is different. If the Albanians want jobs, honest taxes and reduced crime, their only choice is to vote the SP program on June 23rd.

The Socialist Party leader was greeted by Luis Ayala, Secretary of the Socialist International emphasized that the socialist values lead us to a state of well being and are based on solidarity. “The world has seen great changes in the last 20 years, many of them dramatic. The values of social-democracy are the ones that represent the majorities today. I am here today because your commitment signifies a lot for all Socialists in the world.

The fight of the Albanian Socialists is very important for 170 families of our party that govern their countries in the entire continent. I want to say two important things:

1. The first reason is that in the past 20 years, most of the countries have been fighting to establish democracy. But the essential fight is the fight for free and honest elections. Hence, your fight will be heard in our big family. In this fight we have been together with Edi Rama and the Albanian Socialists, because nothing will be more than free and honest elections.

2. The second reason is that in these countries we have reached democracy, but most importantly, we have reached a good governing that is important for the people”, declared Ayala, Secretary of the Socialist International.

“We’re in a time when crisis has affected many countries, even in the US. The origin of this crisis was in the things that we have opposed. This is a battle that requires regulation. We need to spend more for the people. We have seen development from socialist governments who have what you said today. This is the reason why your fight is important for us, because we feel that you will do what you said yesterday, to have a good and clean government that will serve to the people. I also wanted to say that Albania needs the Socialist Party to lead it. Needs a responsible governing and healthy institutions, to be accountable to their citizens and give a sense to this country. We had an expression in Chili: “Joy is coming.” In you I see a Socialist Party that is ready to win. I see Edi Rama ready to take a good government, and to bring joy. I wish you the best for the next elections”, he concluded.

Rama: We have a different vision

The Socialist leader, Edi Rama, emphasized the difference between the visions of the Socialist Party and the current government.

Rama declared that their vision is for new jobs, honest taxes and reduced crime.

“I’m grateful to those who explained to the public the foundations of our program, which too detailed to be introduced in only two days. I thank those who spoke on behalf of hundreds of thousands of voiceless people.

My question yesterday was what Albania should we build, on that is based on the truth, or one that is based on lies? We want to build an Albania that knows how to listen to the truth and live with it. Do we want to live in a free or corrupted Albania? We live in a country that is being withheld, and we want all Albanians to be free. We promise what will be the guarantee of our lives, the law. The vision that we have is different, and the path that we will follow is different.

On June 23rd, will the Albanian people fight for new jobs, or will they allow a further increased unemployment rate? Honest taxes, or flat tax? Will they vote to pay less and profit more, or will they keep the wide gaps that block them? Will they vote fight against crime, or submission to crime? We want to bring a change for the Socialists, the Democrats and all Albanians. If the Albanians want to reduce crime, our program is the only solution on June 23rd.

Shall we build a cooperation bridge, or will we keep following primitive nationalism? War between Milosevic and the KLA was between nationalism and patriotism. The war was won by patriotism. For us, politics is a noble goal. For them it is a leverage. For us, politics is a vision for an European Albania.
