Snow, difficulties in many roads

The situation in some national roads of the country remains problematic, after the heavy snowfalls in the last days.

Kukes, Dibra, Lezha, Korca and Gjirokastra have the most of problematic roads, mainly in mountainous areas. The State Police appealed drivers to be careful, especially with the speed, alcohol, safety belt, overtakes, helmets, blinding headlights and tire chains.

The temperatures keep being low and the wind is strong in Puka and Malesi e Madhe. In Puka there have also been avalanches, which have blocked the roads, but the authorities are working for opening them up.

Health Minister: Hospital are prepared

The situation has proved difficult for some hospitals. The Health Minister, Petrit Vasili, underlined that the citizens have problems in communicating with the health centers.

He added that the hospitals are prepared for any patients, and there are working groups operating in Dibra, Kukes and Korce, the districts with most blocked roads.

Kukes, residents isolated and without food

Temperatures in Kukes have fallen 23 degrees C under zero, and many communes have been blocked, with the residents not being able to get food supplies.

Zapod residents say that they have started consuming only corn, since their food reserves have finished.
