SMI: Transparency for mandates

21/12/2012 00:00

Petrit Vasili, vice-leader of the Socialist Movement for Integration,
declared for Top Channel that the passing of a mandate from Berat to
Fier, transparency must dominate.

“This is not a concern regarding a given electoral calculation that could damage the SMI, but every change like this should be made in full transparency and leave no room for misinterpretations”, Vasili declared.

However, Vasili says that voting in favour of the Parliamentary Commission to investigate the data offered by the Civil Registrar doesn’t mean that they are joining votes with the SP.

“SP has not joined votes with anyone, but we have expressed our will as every other political force. This initiative was about a full transparency regarding the mandates and the arguments that had postponed it. The Commission was a chance to bring full transparency in order to avoid any assumption”, Vasili declared.

When asked if it is a denied right to the opposition if the Investigation Committee will not be established, Vasili declared:

“I think that this matter requires transparency. It’s not something new having rejected initiatives from the opposition, from any opposition in the history of our Parliament. But this is a very sensitive case, and the Commission should be established. In these cases, failing to approve such initiatives is a lost chances”.
