“I am not running to win over Ilir Meta”, declared the General Secretary of the Socialist Movement for Integration, Luan Rama.

Being aware of the expected results, Rama explained why he is running against Meta in front of the SMI Organizing Committee by addressing to those who he considered “skeptics for seeing this race as a formality”, that the value of this process is the institutionalization of the debate within the SMI and to avoid intrigues.

“Let’s turn our discussions from phenomena related with the intrigues against each other inside the SMI to an institutional and public debate”, Rama declared.

The SMI leader sees the democracy growth within the party through a wider view, in function of the democratic growth in Albania and as a guarantee of necessary reforms.

“The best way to realize our ambitions and those of our country is to accelerate the reforms. This can be achieved only through effective and rational cooperation between the political parties on the Parliament floor and outside”, Meta declared.

The elections for the SMI leadership will be held within October.
