SMI announces new leadership

The General Secretary of the SMI, Luan Rama, declared in a press release
that the new structures of this party have been elected. In this
process were implemented all gender principles and the standards of an
European party were reached.

“The SMI structures were elected. The SMI leadership has 25 members. In this elections we implemented the gender equality principle, with 50% of the members being women who have also come from the Youth Movement for Integration”, Rama declared.

Some of the most known members are: Edmond Haxhinasto, Edmond Panariti, Erisa Xhixho, Ilir Meta, Lefter koka, Luan Rama, Monika Kryemadhi, Nasip Naco, Petrit Vasili, Shezai Rrokaj, Ylli Manjani, etc.

Earlier the month, the SMI voted the leader of the party, with Ilir Meta and Luan Rama being the only runners.

Meta won with 79% of the votes, while his rival received 21%. Meta declared that this was his best victory, since this time he had a rival.

“This is a victory after a debate and the biggest victory is that we opened a debate within the SMi. It is important that this debate continues in the future. This debate will be held not only with our members, but also with the citizens, on the verge of the elections 2013”, Meta declared.

This Sunday, on the second day of the National Convention of the SMI, the members approved the political platform and the statutory changes, through which the representation of women is increased and the age limit is reduced.
