Small parties accuse ODIHR

On behalf of the small right and left parties, Paskal Milo expressed his
surprise and concern of how it is possible that ODIHR goes against the
electronic ballot count, by undermining this way not only the work of
the Electoral Reform Commission, but also the process of the 2013
elections.

According to Milo, Albania cannot return into a lab for experimenting the pilot projects of ODIHR, while the Albanian elections have vote theft as the single and common problem.

“We want to express our surprise and indignation that an institution which is honored and recognized as an impartial referee in the past elections in Albania, can make similar declarations that fall against the spirit of the OSCE-ODIHR recommendations and that are clear for the Albanian and international public opinion. We have been promised since the beginning, not only from the OSCE-ODIHR, but also the main political parties, that the electronic ballot count would be guaranteed, together with the electronic verification of the identity cards, and that we would have a balanced Central Election Commission. It is really dangerous not only for the fate of the elections of 2013, but based on everything that has happened these days, even for the fate of democracy in Albania”, Milo declared.

Prime Minister Berisha declared from the Democratic Party parliamentary meeting that ODIHR is a guardian of the elections.

But the Social-Democratic Party leader, Skender Gjinushi, accused this organization of serving to the Prime Minister and majority.

“We value the fact that this is an official opinion of the ODIHR, but we see that this declaration is trying to undermine the Electoral Reform, because if the new technology will not be included, it means that nothing has been made in this reform that has been mentioned so much. This declaration is exactly as the OSCE declarations, which do not represent the values of the institutions they represent, but they are joining the Democratic Party in their way to not respect the free and honest vote in Albania”, Gjinushi declared.
