An accidental explosion at the army ammunition dismantling unit, in
Pigas, Skrapar district, has left one dead and three wounded.
The victim and the wounded are employees of the dismantling unit. The victim, Agim Mekollai, officer in chief of this unit, has lost his life due to severe wounds taken by the explosion. Three other persons remained wounded and were urgently transported by helicopter at the Military Hospital in Tirana.
The causes of this explosion are unknown for the moment, while military and police experts are investigating the scene. The wounded persons are: “Jetmir Demaj, 30 years old, Ilir Kurti, 27 year old and Drini Tiko, 28 year old. One day ago, another incident happened at the Poliçani Military Plant, leaving one employee with a severely wounded hand.
