The Council of Territory Regulation gave the permission to open the oil
wells at the Shpiragu area, but Socialist MP, Erjon Brace, declared that
this area has been discovered since the ‘90s and it has been used by
the Canadian Occidental Company that could produce 60 tons of oil each
day.
By showing the materials that prove the fact, Brace says that due to the high cost, the oil wells were placed in conservation.
“No new oil well has been discovered at the Mbreshtan area. Sali Berisha lies, or he is badly informed. The oil has been discovered earlier, the well is there, closed and abandoned due to the considerable expenses for extracting oil. These expenses are not justified, since the oil has been discovered even earlier at the Mbreshtan area”, Brace declared.
Brace added that the government keeps favoring the oil production companies.
“What concerns me is the fact there are no efforts for changing the practice with the oil companies, an agreement through which Berisha contracts any kind of company that comes in Albania. The profit is zero, in the conditions of a great economic and financial crisis. Not profiting from your country’s natural resources, and allowing every profit to go to these companies, is a crime”, Brace underlined.
Even earlier, the Socialist MP reported the oil concessionary agreement, since the companies don’t pay any tax to the state budget, by bringing high expenses as a justification. Last year they produced 1 million tons of oil.
