Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future The lack of tap water for more than two months has obliged Shkoze
residents to protest in front of the Aqueduct of Tirana. The residents
say that they have regular contractst and they pay water bills
regularly.
The Aqueduct explains that the three transmitting lines that supply the depot near the “Student’s Town” were full of illegal connections, causing regular paying citizens to lack of drinking water. According to the chief engineer of the Aqueduct, Luan Peti, work is underway for supplying water to the families that have regular contracts with the Aqueduct.
“These lines are out of order due to the drinking water pollution. The water connection was cut to 30 families and we have taken measures for finding new means of supply. But the problem is wider and for resolving it we will need two or three days”, Peti declared.
The lack of drinking water is being noticed even in the main roads of Tirana. According to Mr. Peti, this is related with the drought and the illegal connections in the network.
The Aqueduct director declared even before that the drought and the water waste by the citizens have caused water cuts in some areas of the capital. Dollapi added that the water level as significantly decreased but still, if residents would not abuse with water, Tirana would have drinking water for 247.
The director added that the abusers would be fined from 10.000 to 100.000 ALL, for families and businesses alike.
