In 1913, the Albanian national team started its first international
adventure with a friendly match in Shkoder, against a military unit.
Since then, the Shkoder stadium was called “the cradle of Albanian
football”.
A new stadium was inaugurated in 1953, and was named “Vojo Kushi”, after one National Liberation War hero.
Later reconstructions in the ‘80s and ’90s gave the stadium the name “Loro Borici”.
“The stadium is ready. The work is complete. There are some small things that are related to the standards of an international match, such as the white lines and fixing of the grass. The stadium is ready to welcome the Albanian fans for the match against Morocco. The existing tribune was preserved and was reinforced. The central tribune was brought down and built from scratch. We have tried to eliminate what we did wrong with the Elbasan stadium, starting with the VIP area, which has a capacity of 1000 seats here. In Elbasan it has only 250. The media stays together with the fans in Elbasan, here they are separated. They have an entire floor. This stadium can hold activities of Champion League”, says Engineer Arben Dervishi.
