Heavy rains that forced an interruption of the Albania-Macedonia match
in Shkoder have brought back memories the heavy floods of five years ago
in the northern city.
Mayor Voltana Ademi said that although Shkoder remains endangered by floods, they are working to clean drainage systems that had not been touched for the past 25 years.
“We have cleaned 15.000 cubic meters of water, 5000 meters of canals, and we have built 600 meters of draining canals, in cooperation with the government of Albania”, Ademi declared.
As for the water pumps, Ademi said that although they are not under the competence of the Shkoder Municipality, recent reports suggest they are in good conditions.
On the same time, Ademi underlined that there has been cooperation with the Emergency headquarters. The main problematic areas remain Dajc, Berdic and other surrouding areas.
