The first kilometers of the road Shkoder-Hani i Hotit have just been paved.
In the next three months the construction of most essential parts of this segment will be finalized, improving traffic in this area.
The works are currently undergoing in the urban and extra-urban area, passing by six bridges and other art works, part of this segment.
The Minister of Public Works, Sokol Olldashi inspected the segment accompanied by the Mayor of Shkoder and executives of the Italian company that has undertaken the construction project.
Minister Olldashi declared that the most difficult phase has passed, more specifically “the underground phase” in the urban part of the road, and expropriations that have presented specific problems.
The Minister underlined that other phases of the road construction are also progressing.
“There will be a much lighter traffic in the urban area”, said Transport Minister, considering the tourist season that increases traffic significantly, with holiday makers going to Montenegro through the “Hani i Hotit” border checkpoint.
The 31.5 million Euro fund for this 39 km long segment were provided by both Italian and Albanian governments.
