Shijak Chief of Police killed

The police was inspecting a vehicle when he was shot with firearm. The bullets have severely wounded a passerby woman who is hospitalized in Durres, in very serious conditions.

The police that was accompanying the Chief of Police is still under shock in hospital. The Police have surrounded the scene in Katund-Sukth, near a private complex. The RENEA forces have started an operation against the suspect.

The Police has taken two people under custody while the searching operation is continuing throughout the area. Police has surrounded a wide area and is searching every vehicle.

There are several police forces in the area, and sources say that the police have found an abandoned vehicle. Since the operation is undergoing, there is no information regarding this serious tragedy.

Adem Tahiraj, 49, led the Shijak Police and was survived by two children and his wife.

Police identified the authors

The State Police declared that they have identified the killers of Chief Adem Tahiraj.

The identities will still be secret, but the preliminary investigations show that they have criminal records.

The Police has also found an abandoned vehicle that might belong to the killers.

Chief Tahiraj was under an operation of the Durres Police for finding people found with illegal arm possession.

Two Prosecutors from the Serious Crimes have left the scene, while the special RENEA forces are involved in the investigation.

Ilir Xhakja suspected for Tahiraj’s murder

The suspect for the murder of Chief of Police Adem Tahiraj is Ilir Xhakja, a well known criminal among the police.

The news was made official by the police, which explain that Xhakja was traveling with a car without plates when Tahiraj tried to stop him.

Tahiraj was accompanied only by one inspector and his driver. His body was found five meters from the vehicle.

The anomaly of this case stands in the fact that the Chief was implementing a plan for finding armed criminals, and he had only one inspector with him.

In similar cases, the Police use several armed troops and road signs.

Information coming from Katund-Sukth suggest that the energy has been cut in the area, hampering the RENEA to find the suspects.

Wounded bystander: I just heard the shots

The woman that was wounded during the crime has given her first exclusive testimony on Top Channel.

She said that she has only heard the shot and she saw nothing. When she had heard the shots she had opened the door, fearing for the life of her husband. She had heard noises before the shots, but she was wounded while trying to open the door.

Braçe: Crime crossing every limit

The Socialist MP, Erjon Brace, expressed his concern about the serious tragedy that left another victim from the police ranks.

Brace writes on Facebook:
“Tahiri was arresting a wanted person. The operation was conducted in Shijak, an area with high levels of criminality and with less police presence”, Brace declared.
