One year has passed since SubShkoder suffered a massive flood and the
indemnities have not been paid to the citizens, making many families
celebrate the New Year in extreme economic conditions.
One of them is the house of Alban Jukja, in Trush, Shkoder, which crumbled after staying for several days in water. Few people believe that in that ruined building still live six persons who are obliged to sleep in a room that has only one bed.
The last flood was on November 30th, 2010, and the fifth for this area, flooding more than 14.000 hectares of land, 4600 houses and killing 31.000 livestock. Hundreds of buildings are partially ruined, after staying under water for several weeks. The total damage goes to 30 million USD.
