“Kosovo will need at least a decade to be consolidated as a state”, said Daniel Serwer, expert of Balkan matters, on the verge of Kosovo’s 10th anniversary of independence.

In a long interview for Radio Free Europe, Serwer recognizes the progress made so far, especially as regards the establishing of some institutions that are key to a sovereign state.

Serwer warns the entire political class in Kosovo about tensioning relations with USA and EU partners, due to the Special Court.

“Kosovo is a small country and it needs friends. Removing the law for the Special Court will be catastrophic for Kosovo”, he declared.

Serwer commented about the border demarcation issue with Montenegro.

“I am in favour of the demarcation agreement. I think that Kosovo loses nothing with it. It was a mistake to postpone it. I think that the country needs to look forward”, Serwer declared.
