Serbs in arms trade?

The Socialist MP, Ilir Gjoni, vice chairman of the Parliamentary
Commission of Security, declared that the Ministry of Defense refusal to
allow inspections is a constitutional scandal.

Gjoni asked a public question to Minister Imami regarding the Serbian partner in the arms trade company, where the wife of the resigned director of the Military Informative Service results as a co-owner.

“Minister Imami must ask the former director of the MIS, or his wife, about the Serbian partner in one of the arms dealing companies where she owns shares. The Ministry of Defense does not belong to Sali Berisha or Arben Imami, but to the Albanians, and it is a symbol of our unity”, Gjoni declared.

Gjoni explained for the media why the Ministry of Defense doesn’t allow the parliamentary commission to conduct the inspections.

“Clear evidence indicate that some sources, such as the media, the employees of security institutions, the declarations of high rank officials, such as Berisha’s case on January 21st, when he declared that the only information source was the MIS; and the fact that the Ministry is hampering an inspection from the Parliament, shows that given elements of this Ministry have infringed the constitutional framework by being involved in corruptive arms traffic, and even by using the specialized structures of this ministry for more serious anti-constitutional activities, such as the unauthorized recording of conversations”, Gjoni declared.

Gjoni commented the situation as a big damage not only for the image of the Armed Forces, but for the NATO in general.
