Serbian media: Macron looking for “privileged partnership” with Western Balkan rather than full accession, like Turkey

Serbian media are claiming that Emanuel Macron, the French President who blocked the EU accession negotiations for Albania and Northern Macedonia, is trying to offer a “privileged partnership” to Western Balkan countries instead of a full accession.

This partnership would include financial support, special opportunities for getting into the European markets, and other benefits in exchange of a silent withdrawal from full accession.

This is a similar proposition to the one made by Germany to Turkey 10 years ago, which was actually an elegant way to interrupt their accession for good.
