The Albanian politicians in Serbia see no reason to be part of the
presidential elections. They have asked to negotiate their vote with the
candidates, but the campaign has been almost inexistent in this part of
Serbia.

The Mayor of Presheva, Ardita Sinani, said that the rights of the Albanian people have remained on paper.

“We don’t have any reason to support the candidates who run for presidential elections, because we haven’t received any offer from them. The campaign has been almost inexistent in our areas. This means that we are not treated equally to the Serbian citizens, despite the many problems that we, the Presheva Valley Albanians, are facing every day”, said Ardita Sinani, Mayor of Presheva.

Belgzim Kamberi, leader of the Human Rights Council, says that the Albanians in Serbia are part of regional processes, and their rights can be realized.

“I think that every candidate for President in Serbia must have a concrete platform for the Presheva Valley and recognize Kosovo’s independence”, said Belgzim Kamberi, from the Human Rights council in Presheva.

Driton Salihu, Chief Editor of the “Presheva” news agency, says that they expect more influence from Tirana for the rights of Albanains in Southern Serbia.

“I think that the Rama-Vucic meetings have had a positive approach to the problems of the valley, although the opinion here is exhausted to declare these meetings as positive. This is because in the past years we have had endless meetings, projects and promises”, said Driton Salihu, Chief Editor of the Presheva.com.

Albanians have demanded to be part of the Serbian institutions. Recently they have met with the Serbian leaders and some projects have already started, but they are never mentioned by political parties during campaigns.
