The European Union Ambassador to Tirana, Ettore Sequi, attended a
meeting with the Socialist Party leader, Edi Rama, with whom he
discussed Albania’s European agenda.
“We discussed Albania’s European path and the challenges Albania is facing. We discussed the fact that the European agenda will be a priority of the next government. I reiterated to Mr.Rama the support of the European Union for this agenda”, Sequi declared after the meeting.
The European diplomat valued Mr.Rama’s declaration that the new legislation will have comprehension prevailing over exclusion, and expressed his conviction that the compromise spirit will become a new element of Albanian politics.
“We hope that the electoral process will end on time. Albania needs a soft transition of political powers”, Sequi declared.
Focusing on integration, the ambassador underlined that the European Union has opened its doors to the Balkan countries, noting that Croatia is a good example of this perspective.
“The European Union turned today into a block with 28 states. The experience of Croatia should be good for Albania. This shows that the European perspective is open and promising for the countries of the region”, Sequi declared.
“I believe that Albania has all the potential and energy to progress in this process. I hope that the candidate status will be the first achievement on this direction. It can be achieved this December”, he added.
