The European Union Ambassador in Tirana, Ettore Sequi, handed over the
progress report of the European Commission to the Albanian Prime
Minister, Edi Rama.

The European Union representative to Tirana emphasized that the European Integration process must continue as a national effort and as an all-inclusive project.

“The European Union is committed and dedicated to support Albania in its effort for the European Integration and the reforms needed to progress in the right direction”, Sequi declared.

The Ambassador underlined that Albania must continue to undertake steps in the fight against crime and corruption, underlining that the all-inclusive dialogue is the key element to progress.

Prime Minister Rama declared that for the first time, the progress report talks about the real possibility of opening the talks for membership in the next year, if some basic conditions will be fulfilled.

“War against crime and corruption, the strengthening of the juduciary, administration reforms, basic rights and freedoms are our duties. I am sincerely happy that the report speaks clearly for the Normative Act that will be presented tomorrow in Parliament, and I believe that what is written in the report about this, should be a credible point for the opposition to reflect on the chances of voting this Act”, Rama declared.
