Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future
“You must ask the Albanian politicians if Albania will receive the EU
candidate status”. This was the answer of the EU Ambassador in Tirana,
Ettore Sequi, after the meeting with the Socialist leader, Edi Rama.
The meeting was held at the Socialist headquarters and lasted for about 30 minutes. The topic of the discussion was the political developments in the country on the verge of the progress report from the European Commission. The immunity lifting and other reforms for the fulfillment of the 12 criteria have the focus of the international community attention.
EC is expected to decide about Albania’s EU candidate status in the next month. Last week Albania handed over to Brussels its recent position about the fulfillment of the 12 key criteria. The European Commission, which has started the creation of the progress-report since a long time ago will scrutinize the recent data handed over by the Albanian government, in order to include them in the document that will be published on October 12th.
