The two main opposition parties in Kosovo, LDK and the Self
Determination Movement, have criticized the government for the budget
implications that will be caused if the PTK (Telecom and Postal Service)
privatization will fail.
These two political subjects have opposed the privatization, and on one hand they have been engaged for its failure. But since the sale was part of the law for the budget of 2011, the budget implications will be unavoidable.
The question raised in this moment is if the construction of the “Ibrahim Rugova” highway will continue or not, and what means will the government use to realize the next highway project that will connect Prishtina with Skopje.
Different to LDK, which favors the PTK privatization only after a detailed analyze that shows the real value of this asset, the Self-Determination Movement is against the privatization process, and they have also asked to review the agreement with Bechtel Enka, the Company contracted for the highway.
Visa Imeri from the Self-Determination movement says that Bechtel Enka has crossed the price limit for each segment of the road, increasing the cost with 20%.
