The Albanian government is preparing a package of measures for
reinforcing road safety standards, starting from the driving license,
signals and vehicle technical check.
“There are more than 60 measures. Hence, the approval methods change. Some are Council of Ministers decisions, some are orders, regulations, some are laws and some law amends”, declared the Minister of Transportation, Edmond Haxhinasto.
Minister Haxhinasto considered corruption in the vehicle technical check as one of the main causes of accidents.
“We have analyzed all vehicle inspection points and we will add other elements, so that what happened today will not be repeated. The system is corrupted and you can see the result every day from accidents”, Haxhinasto declared.
