The Turkish frigate ‘TGC Barbaros’ and the Albanian authorities are
continuing the efforts for finding and saving the lives of any of the
eight lost members of the “Reina 1” ship crew who might have survived.

The Captain of the Durres Port says that the ferries have very specific courses, while the other ships that cross it must follow shorter ways.

“If we refer to the courses of these two vessels, they have cut the courses of each other. Both of them should have been attentive to make the course crossing in a distance from each other”, says the Captain of the Durres Port, Hysni Aruci.

The Captain of the Durres Port, Hysni Aruci, declared that the ships involved in the accident did not give the alarm signal.

The official says that the only satellite signal released by the ship was given after it sank.

“The satellite signal was received by the equipments in Montenegro and Italy. Our country doesn’t have equipments for receiving satellite signals”, Aruci declared.

Authorities started this morning the searches for the bodies of the eight Turkish sailors, whose ship sank after a strong collision with the Durres-Bari ferry.

The investigations will be held in Italy, by Turkish and Maltese investigation authorities, based on the international laws of maritime incidents and the activity of the Turkish military ship.

Are there any chances for survivors? The Captain of the Durres Port hopes for a miracle.

“It is difficult to say, because in minimal conditions, a human can survive to sea from 4 to 16 hours. However, I hope that the miracle will happen”, the Captain added.

Meanwhile, the two survivors are still receiving medical treatment at the Durres hospital for lung problems and psychological shock. Doctors say that the situation of the Turkish Ship Captain, Ahmet Soyturk, has normalized. He feels better and no contact is allowed with them, until they will leave for their countries.

The “Ankara” ferry, of the Adriatica Agency underwent investigations at the port of Bari, after the accident.
