Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future In 2015-2016 all pre-university schools must implement this year the
scheme when the elementary school has six years, and with three other
years the nine-year cycle is closed.
The changes will be followed by a review of the CV, the inclusion of two foreign languages but with a changed number of teachers. The councillor of the Education Minister, Jovan Kristiqi, explains that they are working to create integrated texts that will avoid repetitions and unnecessary workloads.
“Another change for the new curriculum is with the integrated science and social subjects. One book might have general knowledge of several subjects, such as physics, chemistry, history and geography. Certainly that these are very basic knowledge, since the children of this category are young”, Kristiqi declared.
The Ministry of Education demanded that the curriculum changes should be followed with also a change at the teaching program, where teachers are prepared for more than one subject.
“After the fourth grade there will be five subjects, from eight or nine, but practice will show that it can continue. The sixth class could have two or three teachers, but we will reduce the number of teachers that enter the sixth class, which is the last of the elementary school”, Kristiqi declared.
The Ministry of Education expects that this project will start its application one year before the legal date.
