Scalfaro’s death, Topi writes to Italy

“We share with you not only the pain of the loss, but also our highest estimation for Mr. Scalfaro, for his mandate as President, his experience in the political spectrum, the historical impact in the Italian policy and his special personality in the Italian social life. With his moral and political abilities as a man of state, he stepped in for Italy in difficult times and left deep marks not only for his country, but also for the European political life. He has been a big friend of the Albanians”, Topi’s message declared.

Prime Minister Berisha also sent a message to the Italian Prime Minister, Mario Monti, in which he expressed his condolences to the Italian government, the family of the former President for the loss of Oscar Luigi Scalfaro.

“With the passing away of the former President and senator Luigi Scalfaro, his family and the friend Italian people lost an excellent man of state, who served with dedication and high responsibility. The Albanians lost a true friend”, Berisha declared in his message.

Oscar Luigi Scalfaro died at 93.
