Savings division among population

An official report from the Savings Agency that was presented to the
Economy Parliamentary Commission shows that most of the bank savings are
owned by a small group of individuals.

The report that refers to the bank official data shows that 5% of the people who have bank savings own more than 58% of the total deposit sum in the country, while 95% of the others share the remaining part.

“By the end of 2011, the number of people who deposited money up to 250.000 ALL, prevails with 95% of the total in the Albanian banking system, who are completely covered by the scheme”, declared Silvana Sejko, director of the agency.

By the end of 2011, the total individual savings reached 740 billion ALL, from which 430 billion belonged to only 68.000 people, while the remaining 310 billion belonged to 1.532.000 people or 200.000 ALL per capita. The figures show that the capital is concentrated among a few people, while the majority has modest savings.
