Saranda’s old running water problem

The running water for Saranda has turned into a legend. The water supply
has been very problematic for years, especially during summer. The
suburb areas of the town have water only for a few hours a day. The
citizens say that this situation continues for years.
The Municipality says that they have no representatives at the Aqueduct board, although they are the main shareholder, and they have no information about the management. The Municipality has started using a water deposit vehicle that responds to emergencies, but it is insufficient.
The Aqueduct director, Qesko Cakalli, declared that the quantity of water that supplies Saranda is insufficient. The current source in Viron can bring 10.000 liters of water per day, but due to the losses in the system, the water supply falls dramatically.
The investment for repairing the Naravica source should have ended 7 years ago. This resource is in a vertical position, and it would not only avoid the electric power cost, but it would also add 100 liters of water per second to the network.
The Aqueduct in Saranda has 1000 businesses, including bars and restaurants. Their preferential treatment for the tourist season decreases even more the quantity of water that arrives ate families, with at least 10.000 consumers.
