Businesses protested in front of the Prime Minister’s Office one day
after the new law for tax procedures. They want to repeal the law. They
say that the high fines would take any business to bankruptcy.
“Half hour ago we started the procedure for taking the law to the Constitutional Court and I am hopeful we will win”, said one of the businessmen.
“The constitution foresees progressive fines, but they should not make a business go bankrupt because of a small thing”, another one said.
“Three years in prison and a 10 million fine. Which politician has been arrested in these 25 years?”, another protester said.
The Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama, reacted after the protest:
“Don’t allow ordinary liars to use you, saying that something worse will come with the tax law. It is the opposite. We have publicly expressed for all salesmen who operate. Not only there will be no tax raise, but there will be a radical amend of the fiscal regime in their service”, Rama said.
Businesses warned for another protest, a bigger one, on November 27th, with representatives from all over Albania.
