Bashkim Tahiri, father of the Socialist MP, Sajmir Tahiri, appeared
today in court where he received the obligatory court appearance measure
for smuggling medicaments together with Dritan Gjiza, who received
house arrest.

The Court of Tirana declared that Tahiri’s arrest was legal. The defensive lawyer, Plarent Ndreca, declared that his client should have been to court 48 hours after the arrest. According to Ndreca, this deadline has expired this Wednesday at 16:00, and the arrest is legally invalidated.

Police announced this Monday the arrest of three persons for smuggling medicaments.

The police declared that they were caught in the act while exchanging medicaments for 10.000 EUR.

Tahiri: Mafia style attacks will not intimidate us

MP Saimir Tahiri stated in a press release that the Court showed order showed that his father was arrested due to a mafia style attack, politically motivated by Prime Minsiter Berisha.

“I stand close to my family in this difficult moment and I support the revelation of the real truth. I also want to tell Berisha that we are ready to face his corrupted power”, Tahiri declared.

Tahiri added that this attack encourages him to report even more the corruptive affairs of the Prime Minister and the people close to him, who, according to Tahiri, will answer after June 23rd.

“Berisha will answer for his daughter Argita, his son Shkelzen, his former bodyguard who today leads the mafia police, for Minister Majlinda Bregu and her connections with Prudentino, and for the mining mafia”, Tahiri declared.

On behalf of SP, he promised that after June 23rd the country will have a new chapter, in which all citizens, including politicians, will be equal before the law.
