Ruzhdie Commissioner arrested

Pellumb Myrtaj, former commissioner for the 2009 Central
Eelections, was arrested by the Fier Police for intimidation and arm
possession.

On January 3rd, Myrtaj fired bullets in front of the house of Ruzhdie village resident. Police seized the shells and a cartridge. The motive was a conflict started after the local elections.

The former Democratic Party commissioner opposed the election of the current Head of the Commune, and created a conflict with the residents who supported him.According to the witnesses, the conflict went to the point of using weapons.

Myrtaj is already under investigation over manipulation charges for the 2009 elections. The Court of Fier sentenced him to seven months in prison and with a fine of 500.000 ALL. The case is currently at the Court of Appeal.
