Russia is using Serbia against Europe

According to him, Serbian leaders are doing nothing to stop their citizens from being part of the wars in Eastern Ukraine, while Moscow is trying to turn Serbia into a tool for the battles they conduct elsewhere.

The Serbian foreign fighters who are fighting for the Pro-Russian forces in Donbass, Donetsk, received media attention during the first week of this month.

Aeksandrobych says there are around 300 Serbian citizens fighting on behalf of Russia in Ukraine, despite the law that Serbia passed in 2015, which banned its citizens to fight for foreign countries.

The diplomat says that the reason for this is on the historic Russian-Serbian ties, and a series of other actions from Moscow to cause destabilization in Balkan.

Aleksandrovych says Russians used Serbian extremists to organize a coup in Montenegro, and that they are playing an active role to push the Serbs in Kosovo against the Albanian authorities.

He added that Moscow is selling airplanes to Serbia in order to create tensions with Croatia, and they are encouraging Serbian separatism to cause destabilization in Bosnia-Herzegovina.

For the Ambassador, this is the reason why many foreign officials have warned Belgrade about the risk of having a close alliance with Russia.
