Ruling party invites opposition for the electoral reform

A letter sent this Wednesday to the address of the Socialist Party
Parliamentary Group leader, Gramoz Ruçi, has not received an answer

The letter was written by Astrit Patozi, Mr. Ruçi’s Democratic Party homologue, who expressed the opinion of the ruling party that now that the elections are over, it is time to undertake a wide cooperation process.

Mr. Patozi declared that this cooperation between the two biggest political parties must serve to the next Parliamentary Elections and to the interest of the country. Although the letter was sent to Mr. Ruçi this Wednesday, proposing as a meeting date the 15th of July, Mr. Patozi declared for Top Channel that he hasn’t received any answer by Mr. Ruçi. By not receiving it as a refusal, he says that he is open for any other meeting date, in order to discuss the problematic that has been mentioned in the letter.

On behalf of the Democratic Party Parliamentary Group, Astrit Patozi invites Gramoz Ruçi to start as soon as possible the cooperation for the electoral reform, since it is considered as one of most important requests for progressing with the integration process, and as a solid base for a serious preparation for the General Elections of 2013.

Mr. Patozi proposed another cooperation, suggesting Mr. Ruçi to invite the directors of the Commission for the Electoral Reform, or either both Parliamentary Group leaders to write a letter to OSCE-ODIHR, inviting them to assist the Electoral Reform Commission with their expertise.

By the end, Mr. Patozi offered a guaranty to Mr. Ruçi, saying that the Democratic Party Parliamentary Group will vote without any hesitation all amendments that will be presented by the Socialist Party in the Commission of Electoral Reform.
The only condition is that these recommendations must take a positive valuation by OSEC-ODIHR and the Commission of Venice. Mr. Patozi proposed Mr. Ruçi to decide on July 15th about the establishment of the Electoral Reform Commission within this session, meaning within the next week. But this is not expected to happen. Not only because Mr. Ruçi did not reply, but also because the head of the Socialist Party made it very clear that the opposition would enter the Parliament only in September.
