The Kavaja Police had reported that the road where two children died in a
car crash, had been opened illegally, but the respective authorities
had not taken it in consideration.
“The Kavaja police has tried to signal this anomaly at the Albanian Road Authority, but, it is still up to the other institutions to gake messages. The road authority needs to improve the signaling system”, says Mitat Tola, Director of the Traffic Police.
But the Kavaja-Rrogozhina segment is not the only one missing barriers.
“I returned today from Morina, and there are some parts where the barriers are missing. Other countries replace them with plastic deposits filled with water or sand”, says a road safety expert.
Lack of surrounding nets is also a source of accidents in Albanian highways.
“Pedestrians and animals cause fatal accidents”, Tola said.
80 people have died in accidents for the first four months of 2016, in more than 600 car crashes.
