The KFOR command declared that the operation for removing the roadblocks
in Northern Kosovo and for unblocking the border checkpoints 1 and 31
has resulted successful.
The Spokesperson Uve Novicki declared that KFOR troops have full control of the Ibr valley and the roads that have been used for smuggle.
“KFOR has the border checkpoints under full control, and manages the entire border with Serbia”, Novicki declared.
A similar communication was released by EULEX, saying that the roadblocks were removed and the border checkpoint 31 and the Zubin Potok area are under control.
“Our goal is to improve the situation and make law prevail in this part of Kosovo”, EULEX declared.
EULEX declared that they arrested some people near the border checkpoints, who were released after a short time.
The Kosovo Prime Minister, Hashim Thaci, condemned the violent reaction of the Serbian residents against KFOR soldiers, which resulted with eight of them injured.
Thaci added that that violence escalation is against the interest of all.
