Road Code amends

Now that the amends of the Road Code will enter in act, after being published on the official book, independent experts of road safety
express their reserves for the partial amends, concentrating on the
fines’ chapter.

The expert Gezim Hoxha declared for Top Channel that there can be no double fines for the drivers, when there are no normal streets.

“Road safety cannot be created with fines. The interventions in the Road Code must be made in all segments”, Hoxha declared.

As an example, the road expert brings the “Mother Teresa” airport road.

“There are inconsistencies between the signs. The horizontal one says that parking is allowed, the vertical one says that it is not allowed. Another road is interrupted by the alleys of the country roads, which is not allowed by law”.

Expert Berti Koxhaj says that the changes in the code should be made so that the drivers should reflect more, now that the signs are more severe. But Mr. Koxhaj also proposes total changes for the code, and not only by simply increasing the fines.

“The fines should be changed so that people think before violating the law, but I am more in favor of a radical change of the code, with all interest groups, from the way the fines is paid and to the insurances and police performance on terrain”, Koxhaj declared.

One of the interesting changes is the law for the safety belt, which makes the driver responsible for the people over 12 years of age and who do not have safety belts.
