The Chairman of the Central Election Commission, Arben Ristani, reacted
this Monday against the accusations made by the opposition regarding the
decision of CEC to postpone the Waste Import Referendum.
“The evaluation criteria for the CEC are the rule of law, not the next press conference of any political country. We have consequently implemented the law and the rule of law will be the evaluation criteria”, Ristani declared.
He did not answer to the opposition’s accusations, by saying that he will not be involved in politics and that the transparency of CEC has been valued by important international institutions, such as OSCE/ODIHR.
The Mandate of the CEC ends on February 2013, while it is unknown if Ristani will still be the head of this institution.
