Rexhepi: Proportional force for violent protesters

The Kosovo Interior Minister, Bajram Rexhepi, declared that KFOR, EULEX
and Kosovo Police must use proportional force against the Serbian
protesters in North.

Quoted by RTK, Rexhepi valued that the maximal self preservation of the KFOR soldiers have given the Serb protesters the idea that they can do everything they like.

“I have said several times that KFOR and the Police should respond proportionally, depending on the situation. If someone is too violent and puts in danger the lives of the KFOR troops’, then we will use the same language with them”, Rexhepi confirmed.

The Minister then expressed the conviction that regardless the existence of Serbian radical groups, law and order will be established in Northern Kosovo.

“KFOR, EULEX and the Police will undertake common measures so that the citizens in north can enjoy free movement, safety and law and order”, Rexhepi declared.

He underlined that the country has all potentials for keeping the situation under control, in cooperation with KFOR.

“The actions of Kosovo Police will be coordinated with KFOR and EULEX, and the situation will be managed, so that it doesn’t escalate”, Rexhepi declared.

Rexhepi’s reaction comes after the events of this Monday morning, when two KFOR soldiers were wounded by firearm, and 20 others later the night.
