Rexhepi: Northern situation becoming unbearable

The Kosovo Minister of Interior Affairs, Bajram Rexhepi, declared that
every decision for removing the roadblocks placed by the rebelled Serbs
will be taken in full coordination with KFOR and EULEX.

According to Kosovapress, Minister Rexhepi underlined that the northern situation has started to become unbearable. The chief of UNMIK, Farid Zarid, asked the Northern Serbs to remove the roadblocks.

The Serbs that gathered in Jarinje refused the invitation. According to RTK, they declared that this is unacceptable for them, because the Customs and the borders are state symbols. Zarid declared that the Kosovo Custom agent at the border checkpoint is not operative and his presence should not irritate the Serbs.

The chief of UNMIK asked the Serbians to conduct peaceful protests, while the Serbs asked the UN Mission to protect them, since they do not trust the other international forces in Kosovo, “Beta” reports.

After Zarid left, KFOR soldiers placed barbed wires in the secondary road of Jarinje. Around 20 Serbs, mainly women, left the scene after this action.

Prishtina sees the failure of the dialogue in Brussels as an unmasking of the real face of the Serbian policy. According to Kosovo officials, the Serbs aim to achieve political goals through the conflicts in Northern Kosovo.

The political councilor of the Prime Minister, Dukagjin Gorani, declared that the Kosovo delegation is ready to continue dialogue, although it was interrupted through destructive policies.

The seventh round of the technical dialogue between Pristina and Belgrade was cancelled, after the EU and the USA, as mediators in this dialogue, refused Serbia’s request to speak about the situation that was created in the northern border checkpoints.
