The Minister of Justice, Nasip Naco, declared that Judge Miranda Konica
Cekrezi should be discharged. One day after she rejected the
Prosecution’s request for suspending the Judge of the Court of Appeal,
also member of the High Council of Justice, Gjin Gjoni, the Ministry of
Justice announced the procedures for discharging the Judge Cekrezi.
Although the explanatory arguments for the verdict have not been published yet, the Ministry declared that Judge Cekrezi has violated the law by accepting the case, since she has a conflict of interest with Gjin Gjoni. In 2011, this Judge has led the panel for a case against Miranda Cekrezi.
The verdict against Miranda Cekrezi, three years ago, secured by Top Channel, shows that Judge Gjin Gjoni has rejected the decision of the High Council of Justice for a disciplinary measure against Cekrezi.
Three years ago, the HCJ had taken a disciplinary measure for damaging the figure of judges, after an investigation of the High Council of Justice. But the judge appealed it and the panel led by Gjin Gjoni rejected the HCJ decision.
For the Minister of Justice, this is clear influence. “The judge is returning the favor”, Naco says in the declaration, promising the implement the law.
The Prosecution had asked a suspension of the Court of Appeal and HCJ member, Gjin Gjoni, since he is accused for false declaration of assets, which, according to the High Inspectorate of Declaration and Audit of Assets, mounts up to 2 million EUR. Gjoni is charged of false declaration of assets and of falsification of documents, as accused by the National Center of Registration.
The Court of Durres rejected the Prosecution’s request to suspend judge Klorinda Cela, who is being investigated for hiding assets. Her husband, Ken Dhima, has also been suspended for three months.
The Ministry of Justice asked the HCJ to take disciplinary measures against the couple, based on the report of the High Inspectorate of Declaration and Audit of Assets, which has found the reports of false declaration of assets.
