“Remzi Hoxha” case

Prosecutor Elisabeta Ymeri asked 13 years in prison for Ilir Kumbaro, then head of the Secret Service and now on the run, and found Arben Sefgjini and Avni Koldashi innocent.

Ymeri argued that both Secret Service officials are to be found innocent for lack of evidennce, based on dozens of testimonies and other evidence provided by the Prosecution, the Interior Ministry and documents seized by the local Secret Service.

As for Ilir Kumbaro, the Prosecutor asked to be sentenced based on these arguments: “Ilir Kumbaro’s actions show that he has been active in every phase of the arrest, interrogation and torturing of Remzi Hoxha, Abdyl Loshaj and Ziso Kristopulli”.

AS for Avni Koldashi, the Prosecutor declared that there are no evidence that he has been part of the interrogation or the other violent acts undertaken against them.

After the trial, Remzi Hoxha’s son declared: “We will answer in front of God. Whatever their religion, I think that they believe in God. Two of them will answer in front of the state, and three to the Kanun. I have my family’s approval to pardon their blood if they give us the remains of my father, otherwise we will make our own justice against everyone involved, including Sali Berisha and every other one involved.

After four years of court trials, the Prosecution published their request for the defendants Avdyl Loshaj and Ziso Kristopulli as being part of the kidnapping, torturing and disappearance of businessman Remzi Roxha in 1995.
