Tourism was the main topic treated by the Prime Minister in today’s
government meeting. After mentioning the achievements in this important
sector for the economy, Berisha declared that the constructions in the
coastline are caused by the greed, and that the strength of the law will
act.
“Greedy people, who build on the beach sand, only to show that they have no moral. The force of the law will act on your construction. They’d better demolish them themselves, or they will pay the demolition bill. A special decree should be prepared by the Ministry of Public Works and the Ministry of Justice for using the force of the law against these people who abuse the seaside, God’s gift to the Albanian people”, Berisha declared.
By thanking everyone that chose Albania for the holidays, Berisha ranked some figures which show that our country is having a good tourist season.
“The tourist season is the most unprecedented season in the history of the country. There are 277.000 more foreign tourists in the first seven months of the year than one year ago. This creates 190.000 new jobs. The adviser of one of the Ministers was obliged to sleep inside his car in Saranda, because there were no free rooms. One adviser of mine considered himself lucky that he found a small room in Orikum. Tourism is one of the main pillars that protected Albania from the crisis and made the economy resist to the pressure of the economic crisis”, Berisha declared.
Despite the positivism, the Prime Minister asked the local authorities to give more efforts for improving the tourism standards even more.
PS: Constructions, government’s failure
The opposition accused Prime Minister Berisha and said that what he considers achievements in the government meeting are in fact his failures.
“While the Prime Minister speaks of mountainous tourism, our forests are burning because our firefighters lack of the proper instruments. The buildings that Berisha promises to demolish are fruit of his territorial regulation policy”, declared Socialist MP Ilir Beqja.
“In today’s government meeting we were expecting Berisha to talk seriously about the alarming situation of criminality and uncertainty in Albania. We expected him tot reat the most basic human right – the right to live. Lives are threatened, properties are threatened, businesses are threatened and the media are also threatened. Only a few days ago, three newspapers disappeared from the market, but Berisha keeps ignoring the real problems of the Albanians. Berisha spoke about the mountainous tourism, but he didn’t say anything about our mountains that are still under the flames of fires. The firefighters say that they have no instruments. This is what happens when the money is used for government villas in the seaside, or for furniture in the Minister’s offices. The Prime Minister spoke about new roads, but he found no courage to apologize for the delays in the Levan Tepelene-Dames Road. He spoke about the new ferry terminal in Durres, but he found no courage to explain why he delayed the construction of the terminal for two years”, Beqja declared.
Beqja also mentioned that Berisha spoke about agriculture, but not for the farmers who asked their Prime Minister a solution for the drought and their halved production. The Socialist MP declared that Berisha spoke about the fiscal discipline, but he didn’t mention the public debt that has surpassed 800 billion ALL and a budget deficit that is 9 times higher than one year ago.
“In the next sumomer, the Albanians will not hear about the Olympic problems caused by Berisha, because the Socialist Party has a plan for reestablishing democracy and safety in the country. Democracy will be reestablished and Albania will be reborn”, he said.
