Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future The government is expected to take some decisions that according to
Prime Minister Berisha are decisive for improving the business climate.
The task force meeting for the regulatory reform discussed a study of the Ministry of Economy and World Bank experts, about the problems that the domestic and foreign countries face with the Albanian administration.
The solution for which is agreed on, is a further reduction of the bureaucratic procedures, especially for the business registration, the construction permits in the Albanian capital, the energy supply, the property registration and the procedures needed for foreign commerce. All these procedures will be halved, so that the Albanian economy becomes more attractive for investors, and so that it can take a fast and constant development.
“The foreign investment interest is increasing. In the last three years, the direct foreign investments in Albania have increased with 316%. An udeniable fact is that the number of businesses is three times more. The Albanian bureaucracy should serve better to them, in order to ease the bureaucratic burden. The direct foreign investments in Albania increased with 316% in the last three years”, Berisha declared.
The government decisions are expected to reduce not only the number of procedures in their administrations, but also the time within which the administration is obliged to give a solution to the business requests.
The construction permits for Tirana currently require less time to be granted, with businesses now taking an answer within a month. A drastic decrease of the bureaucratic time is established for the power supply, the property title registration and for the time that businesses need for importing or exporting goods. According to PM Berisha, Albania will face the world crisis only by undertaking these reforms, by increasing the competition of the Albanian economy.
