Erald Kociaj has been working for the past nine months at the Korca regional hospital.
He won a scholarship from the Ministry of Education to Russia, where he studied for 12 years.
During his stay in Saint Petersburg and then in Moscow, Erald was specialized as a surgeon and he worked as an assistant in several hospitals.
“To work in a Russian public institution you need to be a citizen. Life in Moscow was also very expensive. I decide to return to the county where all my relatives live. I thought to give my contribution to Albania”, Kociaj said.
His mother lives in Ballsh, alone, but the desire to work as a surgeon was so big that he decided to accept the offer in Korca.
“When a doctor with a scientific doctorate is not accepted at the Tirana University Hospital, he will have to accept a job in one of the regional hospitals”, Erald says.
However, leaving his home had also a financial push, since Erald’s salary is now 200,000 higher than that of a Minister.
For the future, Kociaj would like to work in Fier or Durres, where the number of patients is bigger and where he can use the methods he has learned for years.
