Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future All public universities in our country have supported the request of the
Tirana University to take the control of the building that currently
serves as dormitory of the High School of Foreign Languages.
The rectors of 11 public universities signed a joint declaration, underlining the need of the public universities for new spaces.
The rectors demand more attention from the state as regards the teaching premises, which would be adequate with the increased number of students in the universities. According to them, the improvement of the infrastructure would help increasing the quality of high education in Albania.
The declaration of the rectors comes after the Anti-Corruption Directory suspended the procedures for leasing the dormitory, after seeing irregularities.
The irregularities were related with the firing of one of the Commission members on the day when the tender procedures started, and when he was replaced by the former Minister of Economy on his last day in the Ministry. The law says that replacements of tender procedures cannot be made within one day.
The participating subjects in this tender have quoted the law by arguing that the signature of Minister Naco is invalid, since the Ministry was waiting for the new Minister.
